“I am one of those who have persistently argued that accounting will never be a part of their life. However, as the saying goes, »one has to eat humble pie« and today I almost cannot imagine a day unrelated to accounting or auditing.

I’m sure that accounting has a bright future. The profession of accountants is highly appreciated and valued (accountants are at the very top of the companies’ hierarchy) in the developed economies. It is becoming more and more respected and sought-after in Slovenia as well. The realisation that knowledge of accounting is an essential condition for success and business excellence has gained ground. This might also be the cause of the saying »accounting is the language of businessmen«.

After all, this was one of the key reasons that we have decided to establish a specialized college of accounting, which aims to become one of the leading accounting and financial schools of the American-European style in Central and Eastern Europe.

Our graduates have a vast knowledge of accounting, business finances and taxes. Their professional and personal virtues allow them to become the closest associates of management and thus creatively involved in shaping the quality proposals for business decisions.

MISSION

The fundamental mission of VŠR College is to provide high-quality professional knowledge and practices and accessible education in the fields of accounting, finance, and forensic investigations, based on the latest nationally and globally relevant professional knowledge and practices. Through educational programmes, research activities and cooperation with the community, we strive to develop competent, ethical and socially responsible professionals who are prepared for the challenges of today’s and tomorrow’s national and global business environment. We want to contribute to a higher level of accounting and financial knowledge and practical experience among various target groups of established and future entrepreneurs, directors, financiers, accountants, forensic accounting and finance investigators, and others who are directly or indirectly involved in both domestic and international markets. OBJECTIVES

The purpose of undergraduate study programs in accounting and finance is to enable students to acquire professional knowledge and skills for solving demanding professional and work-related problems, developing the ability to communicate within and between professions, professional critical thinking and responsibility, initiative, and independence in decision-making and leadership. Students will enhance their knowledge with practical training in a work environment.

Graduates will be:
• qualified to cooperate with management and assist them in making the best possible business decisions by providing reliable and timely information;
• be able to report on the operations of the business system in such a way that the financial statements present a true and fair view of the business system’s operations;
• be able to organize and manage accounting as a central information activity in the business system;
• know how to effectively manage the financial resources of a company or organization in order to maximize value for owners or shareholders, ensure long-term stability, and optimize financial operations.

The purpose of the master’s degree program in forensic investigation in accounting and finance is to train experts who will use their
knowledge to ensure the fairest possible operation of business entities.

d) Certified Financial Accountant
are designed to train staff to be as practice-oriented as possible. The certificate guarantees that the holder has the competencies required to work in the certified fields.

The fundamental objective of our study programmes is to educate students to become graduates who will master the information dimension of accounting and the executive dimension of finance. The emphasis of the education is on training students to perform various tasks and duties in the field of accounting and finance, with an emphasis on practical knowledge.

Graduates, masters, and certificate holders will:
• assist company managers in making the best possible business decisions,
• be able to report on the company’s operations in such a way that the financial statements present a true and fair view of the company’s operations,
• be able to work in forensic investigations,
• be able to organize and manage accounting as a central information activity in the company.

Further objectives, as an extension of the basic objective, which will be pursued by the College of Accounting and Finance, are:
• to build the accounting and finance profession;
• to create a space for solving contemporary accounting challenges;
• to establish an understanding of the profession and convey knowledge to entrepreneurs and accountants that finance and accounting are at the heart of every business;
• to create added value by publishing articles on current topics and disseminating knowledge about best practices.

The VŠR College of Accounting and Finance is an independent higher education institution, offering two professional Study Programmes: Undergraduate Study Programme of Accounting and Finance and Master Study programme of Forensic Investigation in Finance and Accounting. Our graduates are organized in Alumni Club, where they exchange employment opportunities and ideas as well as and contribute to current professional content of VŠR.Students who have just graduated, are given additional information about the employment opportunities, whereas employers are cognizant of their candidates’ quality of education.Members of VSR Alumni club can also benefit from various training programmes, seminars and workshops organized by VŠR College and participate in the creation of the College’s new (educational) content.

All of our lecture rooms are equipped with an interactive whiteboard, projector and computer network with Internet access. Dimensions of desks (are diverse and) allow for different layouts, thus adapting to the wishes and needs of the customer.
