SOS IB PROJECT RESULTS
Result 1 & Result 2: SOS IB PLATFORM AND SIMULATED CASES OF SUSTAINABLE INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS

The digital platform for (collaborative) development and implementation of simulations of sustainable international business enables networking of higher education lecturers and common development of e-learning materials (i.e. simulations). By international and interdisciplinary collaboration of teachers, their students also gain experience in international and interdisciplinary team work. The platform includes user guides for its use and preparation of simulations.

TAKE A SNEAK PEEK! (SOON)

Only for registered users. More about registration below.

Registered teachers can use the existing templates of simulations of sustainable international business and adapt them to their needs. Or they can create a completely new simulation template, which will be visible to all others as well. International and interdisciplinary collaboration of teachers while preparing and during the implementation of simulations is strongly encouraged!

SOS IB PROFILES

INSTITUTIONAL ADMIN

Each higher education institution has an institutional administrator(s), who edits the information about the institution and invites its lecturers onto the SOS IB platform.

TEACHER

The SOS IB teacher fills in their personal profile, connects and collaborates with other teachers in developing and implementing the simulations. Teachers invite their students onto the platform, and mentor them during the simulation run.

STUDENT

Students form international and interdisciplinary teams that are solving the simulated business cases. Each student takes on a different role in the company (e.g. accountant, lawyer, marketer, sustainability manager, CEO) and collaborates with others.

HOW TO REGISTER A NEW INSTITUTION?

If your institution is new to SOS IB platform, a superadmin has to create the first institutional admin profile for you.

Then you can invite new admins or teachers from your institution yourself.

Please fill in the form. Use institutional e-address.

We will notify you as soon as your profile is created. Check your spam folder. Once you have the institutional administrator profile, you can edit your data, your higher education institution data and invite other administrators or teachers to the SOS IB platform. Teaching staff can invite their students.

The use of institutional email addresses is recommended for everyone.

HOW DOES A SIMULATION WORK?

Teachers invite students inside the simulation case, divide them into smaller (international) teams, and assign them various roles according to the field of study (accountants, HR managers, lawyers, analysts, sustainability officers etc.).

In each team, students distribute the tasks among themselves and work together in solving various challenges in the simulation. There are no predetermined correct solutions.

Teachers act as mentors and provide individual guidance to their students when needed. At the end, all groups compare their solutions to the simulation case.

Result 3: SOS IB MOBILE GAME

  • Are you a Profit Maximiser, a Planet Protector, or something in between?
  • Do you know what a balance sheet is, and what is an income statement?
  • Can you predict if a profit-driven decision is profitable in the long run?
  • Can sustainable business survive on the market?

The SOS IB mobile game on sustainable international business for individual learning is based on gamification principles. It enables players to learn the basics of sustainable international business.
Play it several times, compare your results and figure out the answers to the above questions!

Result 4: SOS IB STUDY

We defined the SOS IB e-learning as the use of the SOS IB platform & the simulated cases of sustainable international business in teaching processes. Then we observed its impact on the internationalisation in the higher education institutions of the SOS IB partnership. The impact on involved lecturers, students, and institutions as a whole was observed throughout the project.Read about our findings in the study here, or skim through its summary in English, Bulgarian, or Slovenian.
