Saša Jazbec has a Master’s degree in Economics in Asset Securitisation. As Director-General of the Budget Directorate of the Ministry of Finance, she led the management and consolidation of public finances, after which she served as State Secretary in two governments, responsible for the management of the State budget and public finances of the general government, public accounting, budget control and public payments. During this period, she and the budget team were key promoters of fiscal consolidation measures, and she became closely acquainted with the tax, pension, health, social security and public sector wage systems. Prior to her reappointment as State Secretary at the Ministry of Finance, she headed the Local Self-Government, Non-Governmental Organisations and Political System Directorate at the Ministry of Public Administration.
She is committed to the efficient use of public money, to a budget oriented towards targets and measurable indicators, and to the long-term sustainability and transparency of public finances. Under her leadership, the Ministry of Finance has launched the portalInteractive display of government budget data (proracun.gov.si), providing daily updates on the state budget situation (revenue and expenditure), a ten-year history of public spending by sector, and all ongoing projects co-financed by the state budget.
