Dr. Erna Štefe has more than 30 years of experience in the private and public sectors. She started her career in the private sector in finance and accounting, before moving into local government, where she was responsible for, among other things, pre-school education, primary education, culture, sport and other social activities, managing procedures for the award of concessions to public utility operators, and participating in the drafting of municipal regulations and the municipal budget. Since 2004, she has worked in the field of internal audit, first as an internal auditor and for more than 10 years as Head of Internal Audit for a direct budget user. She is well versed in the operations of budget users and in the control of the use of public funds.Dr Erna Štefe also lectures on Balance Sheet Analysis with Audit, Financing of Budgetary Users and Fundamentals of Accounting. She has been a mentor in the training of internal auditors in the public sector in Slovenia and has participated in projects for the training of internal auditors in the public sector in Montenegro and Georgia. She is or has been a member of several governing bodies of public institutions, a member of the governing body of the Institute of Internal Auditors of Slovenia and a member of the expert council of the Slovenian Institute of Audit.
