Dr. Draško Veselinovič is Associate Professor of Financial Economics and Chairman of the Board of the Slovenian Business and Research Association since the beginning of 2015. Prior to that, he was Professor and Director of the Gea College – Faculty of Entrepreneurship for 2 years. In his active and prolific career, he has held a number of senior management positions in various financial institutions, starting in 1982 as an intern at the Ljubljanska banka Združena banka, where he worked until 1989 in a number of areas of international banking, rising to the position of Assistant Director of Foreign Exchange in what was then a complex international environment. In 1989, as project manager, he and his associates launched the Ljubljana Stock Exchange, which was officially established on 26 December 1989 as the first stock exchange in any socialist country in the world at that time. The founding and the first years of its operation were internationally and media highly publicised. He served as Director General of the Stock Exchange for 15 years. After that, for 4 years, he headed the universal Land Bank of Slovenia, a diversified bank with many branches, 400 employees and a balance sheet total of €1 billion. In 2009, he was CEO of NLB, the largest Slovenian international bank (9000 employees with a balance sheet total of €20 billion). Between 2010 and 2012, he headed KD Group, Slovenia’s largest international financial conglomerate with 1500 employees and a balance sheet total of approx. €1 billion, which was involved in all types of insurance, investment funds, banking and all other financial transactions in 12 countries. Throughout his professional career, he has been academically active as a lecturer at numerous faculties and other important institutions and congresses in Slovenia and worldwide. He has published 6 books – scientific monographs in the field of finance, as well as numerous high-profile articles in international and national journals. His bibliography includes over 500 different published works. He has also published several books of aphorisms as a hobby.
